Age Eligibility Criteria

Is your child travelling alone and are confused about their flight booking? Read the age eligibility criteria to find the most suitable category.

Infants (0-5 Years)

Children under the age of 5 must always be accompanied by their parents or an adult/ guardian travelling on the same flight in the same cabin. The adult’s seat must be adjacent to the young traveller’s seat. They (infants) are not permitted to fly alone in any circumstances.

Children (5 – 12 Years)

Children aged 5 to 12 who are flying alone, domestically or internationally, are covered by the unaccompanied minor program. They must use the mandatory unaccompanied Minor service. Their tickets are booked on a normal adult fare, and they must prebook the service before arriving at the Airport.

Young Travellers (12- 18 years)

Children aged 12- 18 are free to travel on their own adult ticket. However, they must pay for the unaccompanied service if they are willing to use it. Children aged below 18 are not allowed to accompany minors. However, legal parents aged below 18 will be permitted to accompany minors/ infants with the proper identification.

Fees: What You Need to Pay for Your Minors

The fees for a child flying alone vary depending on the destination and the type of seat. If your Child needs a seat, you must buy it at the normal adult fare. However, no fees/ charges are applied for lap infants.

The breakdown of the seat cost for children under airline rules for minors is as follows:

Infant

Children up to 2 years (up to 24 months) do not require a separate seat, as they may sit on the adult’s lap. Hence, there is no need to buy a separate seat for them. However, one infant is allowed per adult. If one adult is travelling with more than one infant, a separate seat is needed for the second infant.

Usually, a 10% charge of the adult seat’s fee and the applicable taxes will be charged if your infant sits on the adult seat. However, you need to book the seat beforehand.

Children

Children aged between 2 to 12 years need their seats to travel. The fare will be 75% of the adult fare.

Young Traveller

Children aged above 12 years of age will have to pay the full adult fare.

Note: Different Airlines have different air fares for children. Kindly check the minor policies fee travel guidelines before booking the flight.
